Liz Wade, a resident of Higgins Lake, is also a member of the Higgins Lake Advisory Committee and Chairperson for the Higgins Lake Watershed Partnership. As she likes to say, she has been coming to Higgins Lake since before birth. "We moved a lot of times, so this really was our tap root, and still is. Now it is happening with our grandchildren. It's a magical place, and I feel very strongly about trying to keep it that way."

Darcia Little, Higgins Lake Watershed Planner, has Bachelors of Science in Geography and Earth Science with a concentration in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Darcia received her degree from Central Michigan University. For the past few years she has been performing GIS (mapping) consulting work. She has lived in the area for over 10 years with her husband and daughter. She has also been active on the Roscommon County Fair Board, the Firemen's Memorial Festival Committee, and Friend's Helping Friend's Committee
